CCAT COURSES - LEVEL 2 OPEN CANOE COACH TRAINING

The Cadet Centres for Adventurous Training will be running Level Two Open Canoe Coach training on 29 - 30 May 2007 at Halton Training Camp.
 
The pre-requisites for the course are 3 Star Open Canoe (solo), valid Canoe Safety Test (kayak or canoe), a valid First Aid Certificate (minimum of 4 hours having covered CPR), and be a Comprehensive individual member of the British Canoe Union (BCU) or National Association. Interested individuals will also require a signed and stamped Form C1 which can be obtained from the BCU.
 
Applications to the TSA using the CCAT forms, do not apply direct.

GMACF - ADVENTUROUS TRAINING COURSES SMP (SUMMER MOUNTAIN PROFICIENCY)

Interested Adult Instructors or Officers are invited to submit applications for relevant Adventurous Training courses held either by the Cadet Centres for Adventurous Training (CCAT) or the Joint Services Mountain Training Centres (JSMTC). The first rung on the ladder for those interested in becoming Mountain Leaders is the Summer Mountaineering Proficiency (SMP).
 
The SMP is a five day introduction to mountaineering in summer conditions. The content includes navigation skills, clothing and equipment, access and conservation, mountain hazards, whether, campcraft and includes a three day mountain expedition with 2 nights camping. For Adults this may be used as a prerequisite for the Joint Services Mountain Leader Training (MLT) course. The adult course is run over three weekends at CCAT - Halton over three weekends in September and October at a cost of £25. The dates for the CCAT - Halton course are:
 
14 - 16 September 2007
28 - 30 September 2007
12 - 14 October 2007
 
All three weekends must be completed in order to complete the course.
 
The CCATs also run Adult proficiency and instructor courses in rock climbing (Basic Rock Climbing / Rock Climbing Proficiency), kayaking (Kayak Proficiency Course), open canoeing (Open Canoe Foundation Course) and caving (Caving Proficiency). Details of and an application form for all of these courses can be obtained from the Training Safety Advisor or by visiting the CCAT website at www.armycadetadventure.info . These proficiency courses are seen as the foundations or building blocks of future Adventurous Training instructors, which as a County hold very few.
